Terms and Conditions for Old Ford Carpet Cleaners
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Old Ford Carpet Cleaners provides domestic and commercial cleaning services in the United Kingdom. By making a booking, you agree to these terms, which are intended to create a fair, transparent, and practical agreement between the customer and the cleaning provider. For the avoidance of doubt, references to carpet cleaning services, upholstery cleaning, rug cleaning, and related fabric care services all form part of the same service relationship unless stated otherwise in writing.
The purpose of these terms is to explain how bookings are made, how charges are calculated, when payments are due, how cancellations work, and what responsibilities apply to both parties. These terms also cover liability, waste handling, and the law that applies if a dispute arises. They should be read carefully before confirming any appointment for Old Ford Carpet Cleaners or any related cleaning service.
In these terms, “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Old Ford Carpet Cleaners, and “you” or “the customer” refers to the person, business, landlord, tenant, or agent booking the service. Where a booking is made on behalf of another person, the person making the booking confirms that they have authority to act for that customer and to accept these terms on their behalf.
1. Booking Process
A booking for Old Ford Carpet Cleaners may be made by phone, email, online form, or any other method we make available from time to time. A booking is not confirmed until we have accepted it and, where required, received any deposit or pre-authorisation requested at the time of booking. We may decline a booking at our discretion where the requested service is outside our service scope, the property is unsuitable, or we believe the appointment cannot be performed safely or effectively.
When you book a carpet cleaning appointment, you must provide accurate and complete information, including the property address, access details, the type and approximate size of the areas to be cleaned, known stains, fibre type if known, and any special requirements or sensitivities. If the information provided is incomplete or incorrect, we may need to revise the price, alter the expected duration, or reschedule the appointment. We are entitled to rely on the information you provide when preparing our quotation or estimating the work.
Any quote or estimate given before inspection is based on the information available at that time. Unless stated otherwise, quotations for Old Ford Carpet Cleaners are not fixed if the actual condition, size, contamination level, or access arrangements differ from what was described at booking. We reserve the right to adjust the price where the service requires additional time, specialist products, extra labour, or treatment of unexpectedly soiled areas.
2. Access, Attendance, and Customer Responsibilities
You must ensure that someone authorised to grant access is present at the property at the agreed time, unless we have specifically agreed alternative arrangements in advance. Where access is delayed, restricted, or impossible because of missing keys, security codes, parking issues, building rules, or an absent representative, we may charge a waiting fee, wasted visit fee, or cancellation fee as appropriate.
You are responsible for removing fragile items, valuables, loose personal belongings, and any objects that could be damaged or obstruct the cleaning process. While our professional carpet cleaners will take reasonable care, we are not responsible for items left in the working area unless loss or damage is caused by our negligence or breach of these terms. You should also tell us in advance about pets, hidden hazards, weak flooring, unstable furniture, or any other condition that may affect the service.
If a room contains furniture, electronic equipment, antiques, or fixtures that need to be moved, you must tell us beforehand. We may refuse to move certain items for health, safety, or risk reasons. If we agree to move furniture, we will do so only to the extent reasonably safe and practical. We will not be liable for damage caused by furniture that is poorly assembled, already weakened, or insecure.
3. Payments and Charges
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment for Old Ford Carpet Cleaners is due on completion of the service on the same day. We may request a deposit for larger jobs, repeated bookings, or commercial work. Accepted payment methods may include cash, bank transfer, card payment, or any other method made available by us. Any deposit paid forms part of the total price and is normally non-refundable except where we cancel the booking without lawful reason or as otherwise required by law.
The final price may include charges for stain treatments, deodorising, protective treatments, emergency call-outs, extra items, parking costs, congestion or access charges if unavoidable, and any reasonable additional work authorised by you during the appointment. If we discover that the area requires significantly more work than expected, we will inform you before proceeding where reasonably possible. If you choose not to proceed with recommended additional work, the original quotation may still be revised to reflect the work actually completed.
Invoices that remain unpaid after the service may attract late payment charges and interest, where permitted by law, as well as reasonable recovery costs. In the case of business customers, we may apply statutory late payment rights under applicable UK legislation. We reserve the right to suspend future bookings for overdue accounts until all outstanding amounts are settled in full.
4. Cancellations and Rescheduling
You may cancel or reschedule a booking for Old Ford Carpet Cleaners by giving us reasonable notice. The amount of notice required may vary depending on the size and nature of the booking, but as a general rule we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for standard domestic services and longer for larger or commercial appointments. If sufficient notice is not provided, we may charge a cancellation fee or retain part or all of any deposit to cover lost time and preparation costs.
If we arrive at the property and are unable to perform the service because of access problems, unsafe conditions, incorrect booking information, or your failure to be present where attendance was required, the booking may be treated as a late cancellation or failed appointment. In such cases, a wasted journey fee or minimum call-out charge may apply. We will always act reasonably when deciding whether to apply such charges.
We may cancel or reschedule a booking if we are unable to attend due to illness, vehicle breakdown, severe weather, staff shortage, equipment failure, or any other event outside our reasonable control. If this happens, we will use reasonable efforts to rearrange the appointment promptly. Our liability for cancellation in these circumstances is limited to refunding any advance payment for the affected visit, unless a greater remedy is required by law.
5. Service Standards and Limitations
We use reasonable skill and care when carrying out carpet and upholstery cleaning, but the results will depend on factors including fibre type, age, wear, existing damage, colourfastness, previous treatments, and the nature of stains or contamination. Some marks may be permanent or may only improve rather than disappear completely. We do not guarantee full removal of all stains, odours, allergens, or bacterial contamination, although we will use appropriate methods where suitable.
Where a customer requests cleaning for delicate, antique, or specialist materials, the customer accepts that such materials may carry a higher risk of colour loss, shrinkage, texture change, or surface alteration. We may decline to clean any item or area if we consider that the risk of damage is too high or the item is unsuitable for the method requested. Any advice we give about outcomes is given in good faith but should not be treated as an absolute guarantee.
Our service does not include repair work, structural restoration, re-stretching, re-dyeing, mould remediation, pest treatment, or the removal of items that are permanently bonded or unsafe to move, unless expressly agreed in writing. Where such issues are identified during cleaning, we may pause or stop work and advise you of the limitation. If treatment must be interrupted for safety reasons, you remain responsible for the work already completed.
6. Liability and Insurance
We will not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK law. Subject to that, our liability for loss or damage arising from the service is limited to the amount paid or payable for the specific job giving rise to the claim, except where a different limit is required by law.
We are not liable for pre-existing damage, wear and tear, hidden defects, unstable fittings, item deterioration, or damage caused by a customer’s failure to follow advice or to disclose relevant information. This includes shrinkage, colour bleeding, pile distortion, or changes in appearance that occur despite the use of reasonable care on delicate or previously treated fabrics. Customers are encouraged to report existing marks or weak areas before work begins so we can make a note of them.
If you believe damage has occurred during a service provided by Old Ford Carpet Cleaners, you must notify us as soon as reasonably possible and in any event within 48 hours of completion of the work. We may request photographs, descriptions, purchase information, or access to inspect the item before deciding whether a claim is valid. Any loss caused by failure to act promptly, continued use of an affected item, or independent third-party intervention may reduce or remove any available remedy.
7. Waste Handling, Environmental Compliance, and Regulations
We handle waste generated during the course of our cleaning work in line with applicable UK waste and environmental regulations. This may include used filters, disposable cloths, empty product containers, contaminated waste water, and packaging materials. Where practical, we aim to minimise waste and use appropriate disposal methods that are consistent with safe and lawful practice.
You agree that any waste, residue, removed debris, or contaminated material created by the service becomes our responsibility only to the extent it is generated and collected by us in the course of the work. We are not responsible for hidden or hazardous waste not disclosed in advance, including biological contamination, sharps, asbestos, chemical residues, or any material that may require specialist disposal. If such material is found, we may stop work immediately and require appropriate specialist handling before the service can continue.
You must tell us in advance if the property contains any hazardous substances, restricted waste, or conditions that may require special disposal arrangements. We may refuse to handle certain materials, and if we do so, you must make suitable alternative arrangements. Any customer who unlawfully presents hazardous waste, misdescribes the condition of a property, or fails to cooperate with safe disposal procedures may be responsible for resulting costs, delays, or regulatory consequences.
8. Customer Conduct, Health, and Safety
We expect customers, occupants, and any third parties present at the property to behave in a safe and reasonable manner. We may suspend or end a visit if we are exposed to abuse, intimidation, unsafe conditions, aggressive animals, or risks to health and safety. In such circumstances, the booking may be charged in full or in part depending on the work completed and the reason for stopping.
For health and safety reasons, you must keep children and pets away from the working area while cleaning is in progress and until any treated surfaces are safe to use. You must also ensure that electrical equipment, fragile fixtures, and personal property are not placed in a way that creates risk or interferes with the equipment used by Old Ford Carpet Cleaners. If we believe conditions are unsafe, we may delay the service until the issue is resolved.
We may use water extraction tools, specialist detergents, or stain-removal products that need ventilation or drying time. You are responsible for following any reasonable aftercare advice we provide, including allowing adequate drying time before replacing furniture or walking on treated areas. Failure to do so may affect the finish and may invalidate any complaint concerning post-service marks or re-soiling.
9. Complaints and Dispute Handling
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the service, you should notify us promptly and provide a clear description of the issue. We may ask for supporting evidence and may offer a re-clean, partial refund, or another proportionate remedy depending on the circumstances. Any remedy will be assessed fairly and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions and applicable law.
We aim to resolve disputes without unnecessary delay. If a matter cannot be resolved informally, both parties should first attempt to settle it through good-faith negotiation before starting formal proceedings. Nothing in these terms prevents either party from seeking urgent legal relief where necessary, or from relying on any statutory rights that cannot be excluded by agreement.
Any claim relating to the service should be brought within a reasonable time after the issue arises. Delayed complaints may be difficult to investigate, particularly where cleaning results are affected by subsequent use, environmental conditions, or additional treatments carried out by others. We therefore encourage prompt communication so that any issue can be reviewed while the relevant evidence is still available.
10. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions, and any non-contractual disputes or claims arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are located in Scotland or Northern Ireland, mandatory local consumer rights may still apply where relevant, but the governing law for the agreement will remain as stated unless otherwise required by statute.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, unless applicable law provides otherwise. This clause does not affect any rights you may have under consumer law, nor does it prevent either party from using alternative dispute resolution where both sides agree that it is appropriate.
By confirming a booking with Old Ford Carpet Cleaners, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions. If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect, and the invalid part shall be interpreted to reflect the original intention as closely as legally possible.
